Preview and editing
Nov 11, 2015
When I'm going through my course for the user experience, and to make sure everything is flowing smoothly. If I see a slide I need to edit, I click on the "edit slide" in the preview, fix whatever it is on that slide. So far so good -- Is there anything in Storyline that will let me continue with the editing without going through the course in its entirety? What I've been doing is saving the changes and then clicking on the preview course option - but then I have to go through the entire thing all over again. Any tips?

Hi Lisa,
Previewing is basically "this slide", "this scene" or "entire project". It would be nice to have options like "from this slide" or "range of slides".
Gah.... I knew that, I was just hoping against all hope.

The only thing I can think of for not having a preview from this slide option is that Articulate may feel that some slides may point back to previous slides.
If that is the case I would be happy with still rendering the entire project for preview, but just start me off at the current slide... Would be so much easier...
It would save shedloads of time. I've got courses where I don't let the user advance through certain portions, and I have to remember to take off that feature when reviewing - then remember to put it back in - starting from square one after each edit to make sure it plays through all the time - I was hoping I was missing a trick someplace.

Hi Lisa!
My workaround for this highly needed feature is to publish to CD then run the project in a separate window, pause as needed, and make individual slide adjustments as necessary. I go through the entire file, preview individual slides to make sure it's working as I intend it to. Then, I will publish to CD once again and run the entire lesson. Works for me.
Chunking your content down into smaller scenes will give you some more palatable options, especially if you like viewing groups of slides together. You can also hide your own little "easter egg" type trigger. For example, a Hotspot in the upper right hand corner that advances to the next slide. Put that on the Master. When you are finished with your preview, you can go in to the master and deselect in the timeline or delete for the final publish.
What an awesome tip! Thank you so much for sharing your insight and experience here Ron
Agreed.
Putting hidden functionality to use like that during production and testing is a killer idea. :D
Off to go add that to my project right now! ;)
Fantastic!!! I will try it as well - thanks for the idea!
