May be it is nothing but I wanted to check if the 8-10 seconds lag that I see between when I press the play button and when the audio actually starts to play is normal or not.
So basically here is what I do:
I press the play button to hear the audio in the timeline so that I can create cue points. It takes anywhere from 8 to 10 seconds for the audio to actually start playing. Now when I pause the audio and then replay it, it again takes 8 to 10 seconds before the audio actually resumes playing.
Can I do anything to avoid such a time lag. Is there is a problem with my installation of storyline or is it a known thing and I just have to live with it. As such syncing animations with timeline is a smooth process but when each pause and play takes 8-10 seconds, the process becomes pretty laborious.
]This happens to me as well. What I found is - the longer the audio clip and the more content is on the slides, the longer the lag time is. If I am working on a longer slide (1 minute or more), i'll hide a lot of the objects on the slide and that helps reduce the lag time.
Appreciate the "bump" and all, but it looks like this thread was from a while back. I'm not sure if the OP or those that responded are still having this trouble.
Could you tell us a little bit about what's happening for you, please?
I have seen some cases where the audio inserted had some "dead air" or blank audio. Try to check your audio file and confirm there's nothing like this - this may fix lag issues or lack of audio when first playing your audio in your slide.
If you're still having trouble, are you running the most recent version (Update 4) for Storyline?
Also, please make sure you're working with a local installation of Storyline and local project files:
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

If you're already working locally with your Storyline project files, are you able to share a .STORY file here where you're seeing this delay?
The issue is as follows...when clicking the timeline play button to hear audio and synch text and objects there is a long delay and for one team member it has caused storyline to freeze. The conditions mentioned are met so no issues there. Is version 4 the update that came out this week?
this issue is very concerning and is something that we need ot work and is a non issue with flash or captivate.
To clarify the point about flash and captivate the point is that this functionality works very smoothly with those two programs. My case to move to storyline is harder with this glitch. Also the issue is reported using various PC configurations.
Actually - no. Update 5 was just released. It includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and HTML5 output enhancements. Click here for details.
If you haven't already installed that update, I would recommend doing so.
If you're still having trouble with this, are you able to share the .STORY file here? I'd like to take a look, if I may, to see what's happening with the project.
Has this issue been addressed? Mine is not necessarily a lag. It just doesn't play at all. It plays fine without audio (objects and animations), but as soon as I put in audio noting plays.
I have a 100 slide presentation being converted to articulate. After importing the audio, I have a time lapsed on every slide at the end of each slide audio. What can be done to prevent me from editing the audio on every slide?
Hi, Donna -- Sorry to hear you are having difficulties! Can you please confirm that you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to run through these steps to repair Storyline.
Please let us know if issues persist, and you are welcome to share your file if you would like us to take a closer looks.
This has ALWAYS been a problem for me. (I've been using the latest Articulate software for five years). I tried working with WAV instead of MP3, but no change. First time you click play, there is a delay--Storyline seems to be doing some processing on the audio. Then it plays. Press Pause and then Play again, and it responds faster the second time.
I am facing this issue, have created new thread as well. For me the time lag is 30-40 seconds minimum. Sometimes goes upto 80-90 seconds. Took me looooonnngg time to edit minor adjustment to the timeline. Can someone please help?
Attached screenshot of task manager shows that the Articulate application is not responding until that time.
Is this related to the issue you brought up in this discussion? If so, my colleague Wilbert is testing your file as we speak. He'll reach out to you soon with what he found during testing.

Yes, that is the same thing I see. Maybe not quite that long but there is a delay after pressing play.

Same here and can also crash the application. Can someone from articulate or with experience chime in on this issue?

Has this been addressed, or a fix figured out? This lag happens for my whole team. It happens when audio is inserted in a slide.
