Something strange is happening with my previews. For some reason, it shows me an older version of the file and not at all what I have created on screen. It's as if the old version is cached or something and it's pulling from the cache. I tried shutting Aritculate down and restarting but it's still happening. Has anybody else seen this strange behaviour?
It's obviously difficult to preview any courses with this going on.
That's certainly strange behavior, let's see if we can get to the bottom of it. Just to make sure I'm following, this is occurring when you use the Preview feature within Storyline itself? Is this happening with multiple courses on your machine or just one in particular? If it's happening with multiple, there are a few things I'd like to verify first:
What version of Storyline are you using- 1, 2, or 360?
Are you running the latest update for your Storyline version? You can install the latest updates for Storyline 1 and Storyline 2 over here, and Storyline 360 updates can be installed directly from the desktop app.
Are you working locally and not from a network or shared drive as described here?
If you're only seeing this issue happening with one file in particular on the other hand, I'd recommend importing your slides into a new file and working from that one. Many times that will resolve odd behavior that's file specific.
hi Ali, I'm running the latest version of Storyline 2. I tried importing the file into a fresh file and the same problem is still there. It's very strange. DO you have any other suggestions on how I can fix this? I tried other files and they seem ok so the problem seems to be with this one file. Thanks.
Thanks for the additional details here, Deirdre! Would you be able to share your .story file for further investigation? You can either add it as an attachment right to a comment in this thread, or if you'd prefer to share it privately you can do so with our Support Engineers over here. Thanks again!
It looks like in Deirdre's case there was an older unwanted part of the slide that needed to be deleted when updating.
Can you share you .story project file here so I can take a look at your setup? You can add it as an attachment right to a comment in this thread and let me know which slides specifically you're running into an issue!
Also, just to verify- Is this happening while you're previewing the course right in storyline, or are you only seeing it happen after the updated version has been uploaded to the web?
Sorry if this is slowing you down- thanks for letting us know about it!

Keep me posted!
Thanks Ali, appreciate the advice. I'll give all of the above a try, see how I get on and let you know.
Sounds like a plan, Deirdre! Be sure to keep me in the loop :)

Any luck on this? I'm also experiencing this with a file.

Got this figured out, it was my error. I'd forgotten how I'd set something up, so nothing wrong on Storyline's end. Thank you for responding!
I'm glad you're all set, Melissa! 🎉 Thanks for letting me know.
Don't hesitate to reach back out here if you run into any more snags! ☺️
