Mar 11, 2014

I have just started a new project and preview is freezing. I didn't do the update available, so I closed it all out, did the update the same thing happens. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Hi Benjamin,

So you're now using Update 5 of Storyline?  Have you looked to see if it's this specific file or all your files? I'd suggest creating just a one or two slide project with an image or shapes added and try to preview or publish that one to see if it goes through. If so, you'll want to import your existing project into a new Storyline file.

OK, I tried all 3 options (importing to a new project, creating a new small project and opening a previous project that I knew everything worked fine on) and it was the same problem each time. Storyline freezes on the "spinning circle". I am not sure which Storyline I am using since I can't find that info. What I did find was this:

Windows 8.1 (9.0.24172.951362)

So, any ideas?

Thanks

Ben

Thanks Ben for testing out those steps first. Since it seems to be happening to all your projects, I'm thinking you'll need to conduct the repair of Storyline.  Also, to determine what version of Storyline you have you'll want to go to the Help tab and click on "About Articulate Storyline" and you'll see a window like the one below:

We're currently on Update 5, and if you're not using that update I'd suggest instead of doing the repair, uninstall Storyline and then download update 5 here and install that one.

OK - this was a weird fix. Went through the repair. Didn't work. Uninstalled and re-installed. Didn't work. So I started thinking the problem was with Parallels (since I need the virtual computer to run Storyline on my Mac). Yup, that was it. I had to increase the horsepower Parallels had access to.

Windows 8 (or whatever) must be off before Parallels can be juiced up.

Thanks for the help... wouldn't have found the solution otherwise.
