Preview not working in Storyline 2

Dec 29, 2015

Hi,

The preview functionality suddenly stopped working. It was working in the morning but suddenly the preview of all existing/new storyline projects show show a blank slide, irrespective of whether I preview a slide, scene, or project. Also the audio play function/preview is not working. Attached is a screenshot of what happens when I preview a slide. Also I have reinstalled Storyline 2 as well as flash player. Would be great if you could help.

I've now just started having issues. HELP! I need to show a preview to a SME! My Windows8 is up to date and, like some other folks, I am not allowed to install a previous version of Flash because the system says I am not installing the most current version, and I am not able to override it.

Anyone have a working solution yet?

Hi Vicki,

Can you check which Flash version you're using in a browser such as Internet Explorer 11? I also heard from a few others the Windows update was listed as KB3133431 and you'll be looking for a Flash version of version 20,0,0,272.

I had to force the update on my system and then force it to install - but it was definitely there. You can follow the steps here in regards to checking for updates and worst case scenario if you need someone to review it you could publish in the meantime.

Hi Vicki,

I don't have a direct link, as I was able to find the update directly on my system. I know another user mentioned they didn't have it immediately and had to wait a bit, but they were based in Australia. Perhaps it was rolled out to US based users first? If you're still unable to find it did you check what Flash version you're using in a browser such as Internet Explorer? It should be saying "You have version 20,0,0,272 installed"

Sure, Amanda. Happy to help.

First, go to the Adobe site and install the latest version of Flash for Chrome. (Choose the "install version FP20 for Chromium PPAPI" option.) Try that first. According to the geek boards, that solves the issue most of the time. If not, then go into the Flash settings and change the security settings to "always allow SWF and FLV content to use older security settings."

I have no idea why changing the security settings worked for me. Securit should have nothing to do with it, but it does. :)

Good luck.

Okay, I don't have IE on my system (not a fan!), so I just went to one of the Chrome geek boards and got the issue resolved. Just required a tweak to one of the Chrome settings.

I don't blame you Vicki, I'm not either :-)   - glad you were able to get it working following that security setting.
