Preview this slide VRS Preview this scene

Sep 11, 2019

Hi,

I have created a file with a Freeform Hotspot slide where I have set the "hotspot" to only submit if a data entry is equal to a certain number.  If it is not equal to a certain number then I want it to return a layer to try again.

All this to say that when I "preview this slide" it works perfectly and when I "preview this scene" it does not work at all.  I even published it to Review 360 to see if that made a difference, but it shows me the same as the "Preview this scene".

Is there a reason my work shows in "Preview this slide" only and how do I get it to work in the actual project?

Hi Mariane,

I can't see what is causing the problem, however I suspect it has something to do with the way you have implemented the freeform hotspot slide.

I am not sure why you have used this here as you are effectively creating a quiz slide where you have disabled all feedback and results and also only enabled the interaction if the user gets the answer right anyway.

In the attached example, I have created a simple solution for what you are trying to achieve that uses one numeric variable, two buttons and three triggers. The reason I have jumped back to the slide instead of simply hiding the layer when the Try Again button is clicked, is to ensure that the cursor is returned to the number entry box.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hi Ned,

I did it that way because it need it to count on a result slide and to simulate the live environment the participant cannot use the enter key, they have to click a button.  Unfortunately when I use a text entry quiz page, Enter submits the file which is the wrong experience.  So this was my way of working around it.  It was exciting to see it work in Preview the slide, too bad it does not work in the scene.
