I agree. I tried to magnify my screen (Ctrl + scroll of the mouse wheel) but it doesn't work.
This is important because during development I use the preview frequently to show changes made to an e-learning to my stakeholders. The alternative would be to publish the e-learning (or the slide only) and then show it via my LMS, which would be time consuming and not preferred.
Right now, when I show this on my laptop screen it is too small to see the finer elements, and when I show this on the big screen, the overall size is larger but the finer elements are pixellated.
There currently isn't a way to change the preview output size, it fits within the Storyline UI and is based on the Story size you're using. If you're looking for other options to share the published output you could also look at using any of the options here and use those to show the published output in a temporary way.
Any progress on this issue? It would be VERY NICE to be able to have a slider or 'default font size' control which would change the output size in the preview window, the same way that happens for nearly every website in my browser when I adjust text size.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you would like to see as well.
This conversation is a bit dated, but I'd like to understand the need and use-case here so that I can share your message.
As Ashley shared above, the preview within Storyline is dependent on how big the window is when you are using Storyline.
You have the ability to allow the user to expand the browser in the published output from the Player Properties:
Would you be able to share a screenshot or quick video to demonstrate what you are seeing when you preview your course? I'd be happy to take another look.
Sure thing. I just did up a quick example slide, with a blue box covering the whole frame so it's evident. After setting the 'Resize browser to fill screen' option, when previewing, this is the biggest I can get the slide to appear. It turns out that having it preview for a tablet makes a larger presentation on the screen, so I've been using that, although it does change the presentation of the menus, which is not ideal.
As for the why? .. it would be very useful to see the preview in the same page size as the student will (with the entire window being filled with the presentation), without having to publish and open in a browser window.
Thanks for that explanation and use case. With the tablet or mobile preview, it does change what player is used so that's why you'll see a difference in the Menu and navigation buttons. As for the overall preview itself the Storyline preview window is constrained by the overall Storyline UI and program itself. Changing that is an idea I can pass along as a feature request to the team.
In the meantime, to get a true sense of what it'll look like for your learners, you'll want to publish and upload to the intended environment. That will also ensure you get to test all pieces added to your course as preview limits a few of those things.

Hi Cindy,
There isn't a way to force the preview to be at a larger size. Are you having difficulty seeing a particular element while previewing?
no i just wanted to preview it bigger. it's so small.

I vote that something be done about this. :-)
