Problem Publishing to MS Word

Jun 19, 2013

When I attempt tp publish from Storyling into MS Word I get an error that the file "template.dot" is bing modifed.

After telling the system NOT to save it, I then end up with a word file that is read-only and owned by the administrator.

Can anyone help a poor fella?

Help! that did not work for me.

Now when I try and publish ANY file to Word, I get the following warning/error message:

Articulate Storyline

The folder “XXXX” is read-only, being used by

another process

of you do not have the proper security permission to access this

resource

I am running an HP Elitebook

Windows 7 Enterprise

Miscrosoft Word 2010

Just updated version 3 of Storyline

I was previously kind of able to publish, now I am STUCK.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I have been fighting with the exact same issue for the last two months. I get the same messages when I publish to Word.

One computer: - won't publish to word

Samsung Series 5 laptop

Windows 7 Pro

Microsoft Word 2010

Just updated version 3 of Storyline

2nd computer: Printing to word works just fine.

Dell Latitude

Windows 7 Pro

Microsoft Word 2007

Storyline 3 -

Justin,

Glad you are with me.

Rebooted again. Opened Word, Created a file saved it to my Articulate folder no problem.

Went back into Storyline, opened my "test file" (three pages, no graphics, no quizzes) and tried to publish it

Been watching the "blue circle" spinning for 5 minutes now....and the same message about access pops up.

I feel dumb...

I'm really sorry for the trouble, Dave.

The possibility exists that this might be caused by some changes within Storyline Update 3, but it's only affecting a subset of clients.

I have created Articulate Support Case Number 00340793 on your behalf.  I will be following the Case closely, and you should expect to hear from a member of our team very shortly!

I've tried all of the following:

  • Reboot my computer, open Microsoft Word, create and save a sample file, and close Microsoft Word.  Then, test - didn't solve the problem.
  • Repaired Microsoft Office
  • Repaired Storyline
  • Uninstalled Microsoft Office and reinstalled Uninstalled Storyline and reinstalled according to Articulate directions when Storyline is erratic. I actually did not install the update and I am still getting the same issue.

I am really at a loss here...is there anything else I can give you to help me figure this out?

Hi there Byron,

Sorry to hear that you're running into this issue as well. I haven't seen anything yet that confirms the issue only occurs with the 64-bit version of Office, but that would be good to know :)

I was able to find your support case (#00343079) for my reference. Looks like Jayem is already working on the case. You should receive a response from him soon.

I'll also keep an eye on the case and try to follow up with you here on the forums.

Thanks!

The following suggested solution did not work.

Could  you try thefollowing steps to see if this will solve the publish to MS Word issue:

Let us perform a repair installation to resolve theissue. Here's how:

 1. Uninstall Storyline using Windows' Add/Remove programs2. Download the Storyline Update 2 installer and save on your desktop:

http://files.articulate.com/~j2/Builds/Update_2/storyline.zip

3. Restart your computer

4. Turn off your anti-virus program

5. Close all running programs

6. Right-click the installation file, and select Run asadministrator 7. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installationprocess 8. Reboot your computer

Please create a new project first and test if this willwork.

The same issue still occurred, word is asking for template to be saved and a word doc publish is not created.

Kind regards
