Problem Saving new project

May 14, 2013

I'm fairly new to Storyline and have just started a new project.  After creating the first few slides, I was able to save and publish it, but now when I try to save it I receive this error:

"  The project could not be saved.  Store must be opened for this operation."  Not sure what this means.

Welcome to the community, Karen!

First, can you please try to make sure you're working with local project files?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you are working locally, or if moving the files doesn't help, please try creating a new Storyline file. You won't need to add any content, just try to save the file. Does the same thing happen?

Thanks and welcome again!
