Problem with Drag and Drop activity and Motion Paths!

Sep 22, 2015

Hello, my name is Eduardo and I've been working with SL2 to create a Drag and Drop activity (project attached) which it's a series of labels to drag and drop on a few containers, depending on which category might belong. The problem it's that when I try to drag them to the containers, it seems that something is blocking the containers and the click area when the labels return to their position, honestly I don't know if it's because they are moving (with the motion paths) or what, but it's very frustrating to loose time figuring this out! Is it possible that Motion paths don't work if the elements are part of a Drag n' drop activity?! Have you guys had this problem before?!

If someone could help me with this it would be nice! and I will be so grateful!

Thanks for your time and cooperation!

Hi Weknow,

Thanks for sharing your file here - I'm having a difficult time even clicking on them to drag as they're moving a bit fast and the hand icon disappears before I'm able to grab one.  I'm also unclear which items I should be trying to drag as the containers are not labelled...but perhaps someone in the community will be able to take a look at your design and offer some additional thoughts.

I haven't seen a lot of motion path and drag and drop set ups, although there is one here so they can work together.

I'm having the same problem.  I want the icon to move on to the screen via a motion path so the user can grab the icon and drop it in the correct box; however, after I grab the icon and drag it to its box, the icon goes back to its motion path instead of staying in the box.  It there a way to stop the motion path once the drag item is in the correct drop object?

Hi Noelle,

There isn't a way to change it to stop from the motion path and just default to the drag and drop location. Perhaps you could look at playing around with hiding the motion path items and then making a copy of the item appear on the drop target? Just thinking "outloud" here - but perhaps someone in the community has done something similar and could share ideas here.

Hi Clara,

You may want to message Noelle directly as I'm not sure if she's still subscribed to this thread since it's over 6 months old. You can contact her using the "contact me" link on her profile.

Best of luck with your project and if you come up with a solution feel free to share here as it may assist other users!

I'm still subscribed to this thread.  I did get it to work, but I had to fake it out.  I added a copy of the icons in the boxes where they should be dropped and set those to be hidden.  The icons on the motion path were called icon 1. The duplicate icons were called icon 2.  When the user drops the icon in the correct box, the icon on the motion path (icon 1) changes to hidden and the stationary icon in the box (icon 2 goes from hidden to visible.) The motion path doesn't stop, but you can no longer see that icon. That was the only way that I could get it to work.
