Problem with echoes in audio files in slides with Markers

Sep 26, 2012

Hello. My company recently upgraded from Presenter to Storyline. I am in the process of recording my first Storyline project, and am having trouble with echoes in some of the recorded slides. The offending slides also have Markers inserted in them (the cool little swirling buttons that pop out a text box when clicked). Does anyone know if this feature is incompatible with audio files?

Hi Peter,

I am having the same issue as above. I have audio that I am copying to multiple slides and then editing it to match the new slide. The first 25 slides the audio copied over fine. Now I have a huge echo on the slides when copying/pasting?
The original audio file on one of the slides is still fine.

Thanks, David

Hi David,

If after checking into Michael's suggestion and still running into the problem we'd be happy to check your .story file as well. You can share it here using the paper clip icon, or send it to our support engineers using the link Peter offered, or I can send you directions on how to send to me directly.

Please keep us posted.

I was having the same issue with audio Echos. And since I came here looking for an answer, ¥et my problem ended up being different, I figured I would post the solution here to save others some pain.

Here is what was causing it. I initially had tried using layers to add an extended state to a button because I also wanted to do other things in there when the user clicked, like play audio and show different graphics.

When I was having issues with some of my triggers I decided to simplify and remove my graphics from the layer and paste them into an on-click state on my main timeline.

By doing so, apparently I also copied the audio and all triggers associated with those graphics. I did not find this until I deleted all audio from all timelines and it was still playing the audio.

So if you hear echo's, be sure to go check all your buttons that have states. If you go to edit the state and you see new/duplicate triggers in there, it is a tell tale sign you may not have only copied extra triggers, but audio too that you won't see because states do not show their assets on a timeline like layers do.

Just delete and recreate that button state and you should be fine.

Hope that helps.
