Problem with hover states causing crash?
Jul 27, 2015
I am trying to simplify the design of some slides where I have vocab definitions that appear when you hover over the word. It was working fine when I had the definitions on separate layers which were triggered to show up when you hover on the word. But I wanted to reduce the layers on my slides, so I cut and pasted the definitions directly into the hover state of each word. I adjusted the triggers accordingly and I thought it should work in theory, but now Storyline is crashing whenever I try to preview the slide (or the scene containing it, or the whole project). I don't know what I might have done wrong.
Attached is a project I made containing only the before and after versions of the slide so you can compare the two. I also included the error report generated by Storyline when it crashed. Is there a way to fix the second slide or am I better off leaving it like the first one?

Hi Aimee
I removed the slide that was working correctly (with layers) and just worked on the funky slide. It appears that your animations fade in by paragraph were causing an issue. When I changed them to Fade in (as one object) the slide is fine - now that doesn't mean it gives you the effect you want...but maybe look at how your animating those text boxes with the hover states.
Hope this helps - see attached
Hi Wendy,
Thanks so much for your help in stopping the crashes! How weird that the fading was connected to that. I ended up playing more with some of the triggers and it's working well now. :)
Glad that Wendy was able to assist you here Aimee. Thanks for popping in with an update.
