Problem with HTML5 publishing feature "Record Screen"

Apr 04, 2014

When I make a catch in there moving the mouse or scroll a web page, for example. On display in HTML5 these movements do not appear. Only flash output is correct. This is a limitation of the program?

Hi Artur,

I'm not sure I understand your original post - which may be why others did not respond either. It sounds like you've conducted a screen recording and have inserted it as video on a single slide - and when testing the published output you're not seeing certain actions while viewing the HTML5 output? Can you tell us more about where and how you're testing this - such as the browser, pc vs. ipad, hosted in an LMS or web server, etc.? Also, it would be very helpful if you're able to share a few examples such as a link to the Flash output that behaves correctly and a link to the HTML5 output that does not behave as expected.

Lastly, if you ever have a question that you've posted here in the forums and don't receive an answer, but think it's a bug or issue within the program or your file, you're always welcome to connect with our Support engineers.  They'll be happy to take a look.

Hello Ashley

I'm not using a video on a single slide. I am using the "step-by-step slide" option. What happens is that when there is a "drag and drop" in the simulation in HTML5 it does not. I made the recording of an example. In this example we move scrool a web page. In HTML5 this movement does not happen. Only the initial frame and the end frame of the action performed appears.

I forward the packet attached to this message.

Hi Artur,

When usin a screen recording as a step by step interaction, click-and-drag events—such as dragging a scroll bar—aren't interactive and therefore you may only see the beginning and the end elements. Watching your published output, it looks like you're just using it in view mode, and I see the click and drag elements such as the scroll bar while viewing that within the HTML5 output in Google Chrome. Can you tell us more about where you're testing this set up?

Hello Ashley.

Viewing on a computer HTML5, the scroll works (with some problems, but it works).

I ask you to test on mobile devices. For what we see on the desktop (HTML5 version) is not real.

Tested it on iPad (Safari), iPhone5 (Safari) and Sangung Galaxy Grand Duos (Chrome). In all three devices the movement of scroll does not appear correctly.

Hi Artur,

Thanks for clarifying that you've also been testing this on the iPad and iPhone. What version and iOS, are you using for both of those? Also, do you have a .story file I could take a look at to confirm how you've set up the screen recordings?

As a reminder, we currently don't support Android, although content may work on some devices.
