Problem with my variable

Mar 29, 2020

Hello,

I'm asking your expertise today because I'm stuck i think because of my variables.
Indeed, I would like the state of an object on slide 1 to change based on a learner's response to a question before.

I defined a variable with a default value of 0.
I defined a trigger that says :
When: user clicks on the object to validate the response.
Action: Variable to for value 1
On slide 1, the object has a shutter release:
If the variable has a value of 1, then change state when the slide timeline begins.

I have tried several variations of the scenario I have described.

So my question is what trigger should I add so that my object changes according to a learner's answer.

Sorry in advance for my mistakes, I am not English speaking.

Thank you very much for your answer,

Happy Monday, Brian!

Could either of these triggers work for your design?

  • Change state when variable changes if the variable changes on the slide the learner is on
  • Change state when timeline starts on condition variable equal to if you need an object to change at the beginning of a slide based on the variable value

If that's not quite right, are you comfortable with sharing the .story file publicly in your reply? The community and I will take a closer look and do our best to help!

If you are trying to do this:

Change state when timeline starts on condition variable equal to if you need an object to change at the beginning of a slide based on the variable value

on a slide that has been visited before, be sure the slide properties are set to return to initial state on revisit. Otherwise, the timeline might not start.
