Problem with saving projects...

Sep 01, 2014

Hello,

Recently, I'm experiencing more and more frequently problems with saving projects in Storyline. I get the message above. The Dutch part means as much as 'For this operation, the archive must be opened.'

Can anybody help me with this, it 's quite frustrating to lose a lot of work at times when you least expect it...

Thanks in advance,

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

I've not seen this particular issue before. You are not working on a network or USB drive right? And your file on your local machine isn't in a deep (more than 260 characters) folder strucure?

If none of these apply I suggest you submit a support case http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/ with your .story file so the articulate team can take a look at it.

Hi Stephanie,

I also haven't seen that specific message before - and can't think of something similar about an archive. As Jeff mentioned it may be best to share your file with our Support engineers so that they can take a look and offer any other thoughts on what may be occurring.

Please let us know if you're able to submit a case so that I can follow along and update the thread as needed.

Hi Ashley,

I've found out that my Dutch phrase gets translated in English as follows: store must be open for this operation. There are other threads considering this topic, but without a solid solution. In the meantime, with closing and starting my laptop, the problem has temporarily solved itself. I suppose it has something to do with the heaviness of my file and the fact that I was working with a lot of different Story files in one time.

Anyway, thanks for your replies, I hope the support team finds a way to avoid this issue in future versions of the program.

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for the translation - and yes, I have seen that error before. It sounds like it was just the one file that had the issue, so you'll want to confirm that you're working locally as described here and it may also be worth conducting the repair of Storyline outlined here. As you may have seen from the threads you reviewed, there isn't a consistent behavior that causes that error message and so our team continues to look into the cause. If you're able to determine a specific pattern or consistent behavior can you please connect with our Support engineers and share that information along with a .story file?

Also, since Storyline doesn't have an autosave/recover feature, it may be worth looking into a back up method such as the one described here.
