Problem with send email trigger

A button in a course I'm working on has the trigger action "Send email to" assigned to it. In testing the course, clicking the button creates the email OK. But that action also replaces the course URL in the browser address field (IE 8) with the "mailto" link and the course content is replaced with the message "Navigation to the webpage was canceled."
I can click the browser back button to return the course, but I'm returned to its beginning, not to where I left off (the Player Properties resume on restart option is set to "Prompt to resume"). I'm using Storyline update 4:1311.1422.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hi Dave,
There are a number of reasons why an email trigger may not be working documented here. Also, it's worth noting that we're now on update 5 of Storyline.
Are you testing it from where it will be published? I.E. launches so it can run the mailto java but typically it does this as a new window which the user than has to close.
Thanks for your response. I posted the output files to a web server for testing before client review. That's where I saw the error. When the files are deployed to the test environment of the LMS, the problem does not appear. The content of the course window does not change.
