Problem with timeline playback not playing (as I'm building the slide).
Dec 11, 2014
As I was building the slide, suddenly the timeline playback feature won't work on any of my slide layers! (I have to go the long way and select preview> this slide to watch it. I noticed it after I created a large graphic (composed of copy/pasting a button & lines many times on the base layer called "group 6"). Also i need to select the 'hide objects on base layer' for each slide...but the timeline won't play when that is selected. If I UNselect 'hide objects on base layer' then the timeline plays...but I don't want my base layer to show...so I have to now create a white box on each layer to block the underlying base layer cause the 'objects on base layer' box is messing up the playback function somehow! very frustrating. any ideas on how to fix it?
I even tried deleting the large graphic I created of buttons & lines. didn't work.

Hello Sam!
I checked your file, and adding "hide items on base layer" then going into preview, the new layers do have their own timeline, seekbar, showing
Maybe I am mis understanding, but you want to have a seekbar with every layer that appears, while hiding the base layer?
No that's not what I meant. Sorry.
I mean-
it has nothing to do with the seekbar or what the viewer will see.
The problem I want to fix is only for me, while I'm creating and editing
the slide...usually I move something and then click play to see what i just
adjusted etc. *But* the *playback button* has stopped working (and its
somehow from a glitch with the "hide items on base layer" button). when i
*UNselect* the "hide items on base layer" button the play button will work
and i can watch it. But when i *check* the "hide items on base layer"
button the play button will *NOT* work.
Hello Sam!
Thanks for clarifying. This is what you are referring to:
I rechecked your file, and I was able to use the timeline play button with the base layer appearing and when it was set to not appear.
