Problems doing screen recordings using a second monitor

Dec 03, 2021

Hi everyone, I have been doing some screen recordings for some software training. My SME has preferred to use a second monitor for ease of seeing the steps ad what they are doing. I have used the screen recording tool in Storyline 360. When I set the screen recording area, It seems to be putting the image of the software on the left-hand side of the screen which cuts off some of the menu items. I have worked on the different screen settings within the screen recording tool to see if there is a difference, with no change. It only seems to work when I record the screen from my laptop. I attach a copy of the screen capture showing where the menu items are, as well as the screen recording size.

Can anyone shed any light on how I can fix this (When using dual monitors)? P.S. The whole screen capture was done on the one screen (external monitor) where the application was running. I was not alternating between screens.

Hello Mark!

I'm happy to help! Can you check if your DPI is set to 100% or 96 DPI?

Here's how to switch to 96 DPI:

  1. Right-click your desktop and select Display settings.
  2. Click the Display tab in the upper left corner of the window that appears.
  3. Under Scale and layout, select 100% from the drop-down list.

You may be prompted to restart your computer for the change to take effect.
