I am trying to import slides from PowerPoint into Storyline 2. We were working with a template and everything was working fine. We just updated a few things in the template (not the problem items though) and now all of the text boxes, shapes, and other elements are importing with a dark gray fill, gray shading, etc. Any suggestions on what is causing this? If we fill in one of the shapes or text boxes with a black fill and then set it to 100% transparency, we can import it without a fill color, but that isn't an ideal solution.
The import previously worked before you updated the template, and then you changed the template and reimported and it didn't work? Are you able to confirm that you're following the steps here to import? Also can you confirm that you're working on local project files as described here.
Are you able to share a copy of the .ppt file so that we can see it and try import ourselves?
I think I have traced the issue to having a formatted text box in the master
slides. I'm not sure why this would cause the problem, but if I remove that
box, the gray goes away on all of the slides.
Thanks for that update Kelley - without seeing it, it's hard to say but if you're able to share a copy here we'd be happy to take a look. I've seen others run into issues with corrupt slide masters by not following the recommendations above as well.
I certainly understand if you can't share here in the community forums - are you able to share privately with our team? If so, you can upload here. If you're back to working normally with the removal of the boxes on your master slide - please feel free to let us know that too.

Hi Ashley - I can't share the document publicly. It was a PPT that we
imported into Storyline.
