Problems publishing to web

Sep 06, 2016

Hello - I understand that the entire contents of a published Storyline file need to be uploaded to a web server in order to play a module. I am trying to uploaded my Storyline training to Confluence, which does not allow the FTPing or files, nor does it support uploading entire folders. In the past, when we used Captivate, we could just attach and upload a swf file. Is this really not an option with Storyline? Surely there is a work around. Please advise!

Hi Larissa,

Thanks for sharing your experience here. You're right, Storyline 2 doesn't publish to a single SWF file. The article I linked will give you a little more insight into the reasoning, and I highly encourage you to reach out to our product development team with your thoughts as well by way of our feature request form.

What you could do to accomplish this, however, is make a screen recording of your course using a tool such as Replay or record it within Storyline 2 and export out the MP4. Please keep in mind that you'll lose the ability for the user to interact with the course by doing this. If it's a course designed to just be watched by the learner and not interactive, however, this may be a good option for you.

I'm not familiar with Confluence, but perhaps members of the community with personal knowledge of it may be able to chime in with their experiences.

Hi Larissa, I thought I should share with you that there is a potential solution for Confluence... that you might find useful.

If you export from Storyline into a SCORM format, you will be able to use the SCORM Learning for Confluence app to upload, distribute and track your courses from within Confluence. I'd recommend to try it out from the Atlassian Marketplace.

Here's a video showcasing an example course I exported from Storyline:

(Disclaimer: My team at ServiceRocket, a Top Vendor in Atlassian ecosystem, built this. If you need a personal demo or want to help expand on this idea, I'm available at https://calendly.com/azwandi/30min).

I hope this helps.
