problems viewing Try Scene once published

Jun 19, 2013

Hi.  I have recently published a session but the Try Scene does not work.  Has anyone any suggestions?

Hi Christine, thanks for looking into this. Everything works fine when I am previewing while it is still in edit mode. The issue comes when I publish the course. It freezes on the first slide of the try scene when I view it off a local computer and when I upload it to our webserver. I have exactly the same slides in a view scene so the learners can choose which route they would prefer to go down and this works fine in all examples.

I have tried this on a couple of courses of varying size and get the same issue.

I have also tried using the .html and .swf files and get the same issue.

I hope you can help.

Hi Nicola!

Thanks very much for getting back to me!

Ok, so this only works in Preview, correct? Are you uploading this to a web server or LMS?

I'm wondering if it might be a Flash related issue, if this happens when you test it locally and on some type of server. Can you tell me what version of Flash you're using on the machine, please?

Find Version | Flash Player - Adobe

Also, if you'd like to share the .STORY file here, I'd be happy to take a look and see if I experience the same thing.

Thanks again Nicola!

Hi Christine, i work with Nikki. We are running Flash version 11. I first spotted this on a course i was working on, then Nikki had the same problem.

We are publishing to WEB and selecting a local drive on our own computer, then copying and pasting the published folder to the webserver folder which is then accessed by staff through an intranet library via a hyperlink.

My course is quite large (400+ slides) because of the number of recording slides (view & try). Nikki's course is probably only about 20 slides. Initially i thought it was the size of the course that was causing teh issue but this doesnt appear so now.

Thanks.

Shaun.

Hi Shaun and welcome :)

Thanks for the additional information.

Can either of you tell me which version you're publishing with, please? To find this information, click on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline".

If you're not running version 3 (1305.2012), please download and install the update using the link below:

Articulate - Storyline Update 3

Once you've finished installing the update, please republish and test your course.

If the problem continues, I wonder if it may be due to the MIME support of the sever. This might be something worth checking out, if possible:

If the problem continues, it might be best to go ahead and contact our support team:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks Shaun and Nikki!
