Has anyone noticed a significant downgrade in resolution when upgrading a file from Storyline 2 to 360? I noticed that my slides are much blurrier in 360, not nearly as sharp as in Storyline 2.
I am very interested in upgrading to Storyline 2, but this is a concern. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks for reaching out here. I see that you submitted a case about this issue (00990817), and you should hear from someone on the team shortly! I'll also follow along and share updates in this thread for users who may encounter something similar in the future.
My problem has not been resolved. My computer exceeds the specs
requirements of 360. My trial is finished, but I'm holding off on buying it
for now. I'm hoping this will be fixed on the next update.
Are you having issues with upgrading Storyline 2 projects to Storyline 360? There isn't a recommended slide size for upgrading a project. Can you tell me more about what you're seeing on your end and include a screenshot, if possible?
In your case, you mentioned that everything in Storyline 360 looks blurry on your end, including the software interface, slides, graphics, and so on. I see that Jonathan responded that it could be a setting in your computer or something in the video driver causing it.
Were you able to check the video resolution you are using for your display?
1) In Windows 10, right-click your desktop and click on Display Settings 2) Then click Advanced display settings 3) From there you should see the Resolution selected - let us know if it says Recommended
Thanks for responding. I have the setting at 125% (Recommended).
Does 360 work on a Windows 8 computer? I tried downloading it on my other
laptop (a Windows 8), but it wouldn't install fully - It got close, but
just hung there.
Yes, Storyline 360 works on a Windows 8 machine - here is the full list of system requirements. I'll be sure to pass along to Jonathan that you're using Win8 and you've selected the 125% recommended setting. All of this information will help us narrow in on the cause of the bluriness you're seeing.
Thanks, but it's a Windows 10 computer that I'm using with 360, not Windows
8. I also tried downloading it to my other laptop, which is a WIndows 8,
but it wouldn't download fully.
The computer that has 360 has very powerful specs:
Windows 10
-32GB ram
-4-core I-7 processor
-NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 960M Graphics card
I was told by tech support that 360 programming uses smaller slides?
The slide size in Preview mode is the same for SL2 and SL360. I've sent these additional details you've shared with me to Jonathan, and he mentioned he would reply to you via your case email.
Hey Natalie! I see that Jonathan shared with you that Articulate Storyline requires Microsoft Windows to be configured with 96 DPI (dots per inch). Were you able to tell a difference after switching to 96 DPI and 100% resolution?
I'm sorry this is causing you some problems too - can you tell me if they're blurry while your editing, previewing, publishing, all of the above? If it's just while publishing is it in a particular browser?
I haven't published anything yet. I'll update when I do. Right not it's in the editing and preview. Both don't look any where near as crisp as SL2 does.
What screen resolution are you using? Also, do you know what the DPI setting is for your Windows environment? We've seen a few instances where the preview and the UI is blurry and having those pieces of info would help as we continue to investigate!
Was there ever a solution to this? I am working on a PC with Windows 10, Storyline 360 and everything including the interface is blurry. I never had this problem using a Mac. All of my other applications look fine.
With Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 we changed how we handle high DPI/resolution monitors based on a lot of feedback about the UI in Storyline being too small. That's caused some users to see a less than crisp UI if they're using a high-resolution monitor and scaling the screen above 100%. Our team is keeping an eye on this issue and looking for other future changes we can implement to help with this.
In the meantime, you can check your DPI settings to look at keeping the scaling as close to 100% as possible
Like others here, lowering the dpi makes the UI too small to use. I am surprised the product was released this way (over a year ago.) I know it's not your fault. I guess I will suffer along...
Hi is there still no official fix for this problem? I have to use Storyline 360 the only clarity I get is if scaling is set to 100% but the screen is so small as to be unusable. Please tell me there is a fix by now :)
Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 implemented a fix to allow for use on a higher resolution monitor, but Storyline 2 required you to use a DPI of 96 or scaling of 100% to work correctly, so I don't think Storyline 2 would solve your issue.
Thanks for confirming, Jack. I applied those settings to my desktop, and I could see slight blurriness in Storyline, but it sounds like it might be posing a real challenge to your workflow.
If you'd like our technical experts to test run some different combinations with you, feel free to start a conversation with them here. With your Teams subscription, you have a live chat option, too. How was this resolved? Is there recommended dimensions that the Storyline2 dimensions should be?

For those that may encounter a similar issue in the future, here's how to switch to 96 DPI.
I'm having the same issue. Not just on SL2 to 360 projects. All projects new and old look blurry in 360.
I checked and I'm already at 96 DPI.

Yeah. Experiencing the same here too. Just doing preview and it still looks blurry even the menu buttons, next and previous button text, look blurry.

If there is no fix available how can I get Storyline 2? thanks in advance.
Hi Iona,
Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 implemented a fix to allow for use on a higher resolution monitor, but Storyline 2 required you to use a DPI of 96 or scaling of 100% to work correctly, so I don't think Storyline 2 would solve your issue.
What's your overall screen resolution?
Having same issue with 360 blurred images and interface with dpi of 2560x1440.
Hello Jack,
Thanks for reaching out and letting us know that you're having a similar issue with the blurry interface.
Do you have your scaling set above 100%? We do have an open issue specific to higher scaling percentages.
Yea, my scaling is set to 120%, which is the recommendation Win10 defaults to.
Thanks for confirming, Jack. I applied those settings to my desktop, and I could see slight blurriness in Storyline, but it sounds like it might be posing a real challenge to your workflow.
