May 30, 2013

Hi,

I am trying to create a translation export file, however, no such file is created. Instead, this happens:

Has anyone had the same problem before?

Kind regards,

Kerstin

Hey Kerstin,

Not sure I've seen that one, but can you confirm you're working locally? You'll want to be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

If you're still getting that error, try closing and re-opening Storyline - possibly importing your course into a new Storyline file.

Finally, a simple repair may fix the problem.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply. I can confirm that I work locally and my file names are not excessively long nor do they contain special characters.

I went through the various repair options not too long ago due to another issue. How often can I expect to expericence erratic behaviour or how frequently do you suggest I should run a repair?

I think I may just call it a day today and see if anything has changed tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Kerstin

Hi Kerstin,

Thanks for checking those common things off the list

In my opinion, the software is really stable - I use it heavily everyday and never really have any troubles - but there are so many different environments and third-party factors that can come into play, it makes it diffciult sometimes to know what exactly what might be going on.

It sounds like you might be calling it a day (sorry for the frustration), but if you get a chance, we'd love to see the exact process you're using to try to export for translation. It will help us understand how to help, and you can use our free screen recording tool, Screenr

Once you have the recording, go ahead and send it to us here and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks, Kerstin!
