Problems with Feedback boxes on Freeform Hotspot Quiz in Storyline 1

Jun 30, 2015

This may be an old problem, but happening to me now. When I convert a slide to the Freeform Hotspot Quiz, the Correct and Incorrect Feedback boxes are not right. The Continue button is floating in the middle of the screen, no where near the pink box. The word "Correct" or "Incorrect" are floating in the middle of the screen too. The Try It Again box is worse. Doesn't even record my feedback. Has a strange box with no room for the "Try It Again" button. ETC. What's up? And don't tell me to move to Storyline 2. Our company invested a lot with Storyline 1 and it's what we're working with.

Hi Kathleen,

Thank you for sharing your project files. I replied via the case, but know you mentioned the firewall issues - so I wanted to share here as well.

I'm reviewing them and will get back to you as soon as possible.  I know you mentioned the firewall issue - so I'll also post this in the forums in case you can see those replies easier. Let me know also if I can post any updates to your file here in the event that it's easier to download from the forums

Hi Kathleen,

Thanks again for sharing the .story file. It seems that slide 1.2 is working as expected and using the feedback master as you had adjusted on the feedback masters themselves. On those feedback layers, it looks like you included some additional elements off stage and those will not be shown while viewing the course.
For slide 1.3 I see that you're using a few different feedback masters for those layers instead of the "clean" one you already adjusted and have added your own continue button onto the layers.

By default, you can't modify the look of the Continue button on question feedback layers. However, you can hide the built-in Continue button and create your own. Here's how.

You may also want to review the information on how to use feedback masters in Storyline.

I'm not seeing anything that is behaving out of the ordinary based on this set up, but if I'm misunderstanding or you could point me to a particular slide or section I'll be happy to check again.

Please feel free to reply here or within the case to let us know if you have any other questions.

I am sending a screen grab to show you what is happening. When I use the Freeform Hotspot quiz the feedback results are not all in the colored feedback window. As you can see in this example. I need to delete the large Correct and move the Continue button into the green box. Is this normal expected performance on these kinds of quizzes? I’ve been manually correcting every feedback layer.

Hi Kathleen,

Replying via email does not include attachments here, so you can either visit the thread and use the add attachment button or send it to me through the case.  In your first slide, I did see the continue button in the colored boxes, but the second slide included some feedback masters that were set up oddly and included a button that you added on the feedback layer itself - which as mentioned above you won't be able to customize.
