Problems with saved states in storyline quiz

Mar 30, 2014

Hi all,

How do i disable the visited state on an object?

I have been making a game show interaction - with a game map page with buttons for each question that are clicked in turn.

After someone has completed a question, I update a variables value to either correct or incorrect and put either a tick or a cross on it using a change in state to 'correct' and 'incorrect' depending on the value of the variable.

This works - until they answer another question, when the button loses its cross or tick and just defaults to its visited state.

I do not have a visited state - and don't want one - unless this can be edited with either a tick or a cross dependent on the result of the question.

Could anyone (who understands the above) please give me a pointer please?

I was also wondering if I could have a time limit on a quiz where the questions are on layers rather than pages - I am finding that when I add a results slide it cannot identify the questions ...

Any help gratefully received

hi ant, maybe this could help. please do let me know if it works.

To set the time on layers you can increase the timeline of the layer to increse the time of a question. Be informed that a Question using freeform or using the builtin Quizzing option would be detected in the LMS as well as the result slide you are adding. Your self made questions and Logics would work if they are converted to free form only otherwise no.

Hope this would help, you could set the timings from result slide as well.

Hello Ant.

You can change the settings when revisiting a question slide in the same way you adjust them for a regular slide. Just click on the gear icon on the base layer for the question and set the "When revisiting" property to "Reset to initial state". I tried inserting a custom variable like you, and noticed that once set by the question slide, the variable doesn't change when revisiting the question slide, but the question slide is 'reset'. I think this is the behaviour your'e looking for isn't it? Alternatively, if you want the state of the button maintained, set this to "Resume saved state".
