I am experiencing problems with the "prompt to resume" function in Storyline 360, 2004 3rd edition. The course will not allow the user to resume where he or she left the course. The course does not track the user’s activities within the course. Does anyone have similar problems, or any advice?
The "prompt to resume" function and other tracking functions are designed to communicate with a Learning Management System (LMS). So the course has to be published for and hosted by an LMS.
If the course is hosted on a regular website, those functions don't work (or, at best, work sporadically, depending on browser settings).
Judy touched on a good point about how you're hosting your course. Is it on an LMS, or did you publish it for the web?
Our team would be happy to help test your course and see if we find the root of the issue. Feel free to share it with our support engineers using the link below:
Hello, we're having the same problem. The course won't resume although the resume setting in the player is "Prompt to resume" on restart. We're having our course hosted on a LMS.
We never had this problem before, is this a bug that has surfaced?
Hi there. I am experiencing exactly the same problem. I am publishing to LMS with the Player Settings set to "prompt the user to resume" but it's not happening. Please advise. Thanks.
I am having the exact same issue. Since the recent updates SL (v 3.40....) my resume functionality does not work for my users even though it is set under the player settings. I am using an online LMS system called LMS365 to host the content package created with SL. Please help this is urgent
Hi, I have the same issue in our LMS with an assessment, where resuming is a must. Funny thing is that I just tried it in Explorer and it's resuming correctly. But most of our participants use other browsers..
I recently was made aware by our LMS vendor that it was an issue caused by
their recent released update (LMS365 by elearningforce). So I don't think
it is caused by articulate software.
Let's get caught up with everyone that has replied here.
It looks like Thea did contact our support team as advised and she is contacting her LMS for further assistance.
Thanks for popping back in with an update, Mohcine. I'm glad that you were able to track down the culprit. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes by the way as well :)
Hi Fredrik,
I see that you contacted our support team as well and Cleo was able to work with you directly and you're following up with your LMS team as well.
Hi Heidi,
Looks like you were able to work with Mark on our support team and advised adjusting your output for SCORM 2004 if needed and work directly with your LMS as we are unable to replicate the behavior as well.
This brings us to Cristina. With your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
In our LMS, there is a setting under "Attempts management" which says "Force a new attempt", and this should be set to "No". When I use this setting, the prompt to resume message appears.
It looks like there were a variety of solutions shared by our Support Engineers! I'd love for us to take a look at the file you're working on and see what the fix is. You can connect with our Support team by using this link. We'd love to help!
I have experienced issues with (1) Prompt to resume (2) bookmarking (3) and at times completions. Our other Storyline courses that were upload last year worked. It's any recent ones that have been published that are giving us issues.
Thanks for contacting us and sharing what you are seeing as well as the behavior change.

I am having difficulty with the Resume or Replay buttons too. When I first go into a section of the course, and I click Resume or Restart, it goes nowhere. Then I have to click out to another section of the course using the LMS menu, come back and click Restart. Then I can start this part of the course again. I have 400 learners using this, so please help!
Hi all Upon further checking, our issue is also specifically with Chrome... Most of our staff have to open in Chrome as IE/Edge is either not installed or does not work well for them with our LMS. Is this going to classed as a bug to be fixed please?

Hi everyone,
I'd like to share my solution to this problem.
In our LMS, there is a setting under "Attempts management" which says "Force a new attempt", and this should be set to "No". When I use this setting, the prompt to resume message appears.
I hope this saves someone some headache :-)
I appreciate you popping back in and sharing your solution with the community, Fredrik :)
Hi Leslie, our LMS team has managed to fix it. It seemed to be a bookmarking issue. thanks
That's great news, Cristina. I appreciate the update :)
Hi all
I am having the same issue with prompt to resume no longer appearing...
This is a course originally created on Storyline 3, which, when published last year the prompt to resume worked fine.
I have now made some updates to the existing Storyline file on Storyline 360 and the prompt to resume no longer works on LMS.
I have checked the player and is set to prompt to resume.
Any advice please, or is this a bug that is being fixed?
Many thanks
Chris

Apparently Storyline is not working well with Chrome v83. They are working on resolving the issue.
I'm on version 84, wonder if it's the same issue?
Hi all
Upon further checking, our issue is also specifically with Chrome...

Hi Chris,
Thank you for reaching out and working closely with our Support team on this! I'm sharing our findings publicly in case others find this conversation:
1. Use Firefox, if possible.
2. This problem isn't present below Storyline 360 Update 39. Here's how to install a previous version of an app.
3. Use an earlier version of Chrome.
4. If you're using the SuccessFactors LMS, here are the steps to fix this issue.
We'll update this discussion on any new developments as soon as we can!
