Program Stops Working when Attempting to preview a project

Sep 12, 2013

I am trying to preview a project in Storyline, but every time, right after it finishes preparing the slides and goes to the preview, I get a pop up box that says "Articulate Storyline has stopped working". Then I need to close the program. I suspect there is some sore of error with Flash Player? I have uninstalled and re-installed different versions of Flash Player, but the problem persists. I also have a very similar problem with Internet Explorer. I can't seem to locate the incompatibility issue if that is the problem in both cases.

Please help ASAP!

Michael

Hi Michael and welcome to Heroes!

You mentioned you have the same problem in IE (it closing down/freezing when trying to view Flash content)? Have you double checked that you have the latest version of Flash here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Some other things you'll want to check when working with Storyline:

  • Make sure that you're working with local project files.
  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Let us know if any of that helps solve the issue, and if not can you share your .story file with us here or by sending it to our Support team?
