I have a car on a road that I want to progress as the slides progress. I can do this by using states but I want an animation to simulate progress through a scene. I have a straight line motion path with relative position set, but as the slides based upon the master change the animation resets itself to the starting position each time. Is there a way to get around this?
That's a tough one to solve. One way to do that would be to use a slider with a graphic over the thumb. This would make it so you could update the value. However, you'd still need a way to animate this. One way I can think of to do this smoothly is with JavaScript. There may be another way as well but I'd need to tinker with the idea to see if it works smoothly enough.
Make sure that on your motion path, the path option 'Relative Start Point' is selected. I wonder though, as Steve suggested, if it wouldn't be easier to use a slider as a progress indicator. The car could be the thumb of the slider, the road could be the track. That way, all you have to do is manipulate the variable that's connected to the slider and don't have to fiddle around with motion paths.
Hi, I'm keen to do something similar to this - just wondering if anything has changed in the last 3 years? Can relative start positions work on slide masters or on subsequent slides yet?

Hi Norman!
Welcome to the community. Here is some information on using sliders in Storyline.
