Project doesn't look the same in Moodle as it does in Storyline 2

Apr 07, 2016

I have been attempting to upload an Articulate Storyline 2 Project to Moodle and have been having quite a lot of trouble. I have tried it two different ways:

*Publishing for LMS then uploading it as a SCORM zip file.

*Publishing it for web, zipping it, uploading it as a file, unzipping it (in moodle) then selecting the file next to the main file and setting it as 'main file'.

So in spite of doing this I've been having trouble with the following:

1. When I upload the project and start to use it on Moodle it is there in full, however certain colours and formats will not be available. For example, the background colour that was there in Storyline (blue) will come up as white, or text that was meant to be blue, will come up as a brown sort of colour. Additionally, certain text and arrows will be wedged in really closely together on certain slides not resembling at all how they were designed in Storyline 2 (spaced further apart etc.).

2. Another issue is when I upload certain projects it will take quite a long time then in the end will show 'Invalid JSON string<pre></pre>'.

I hope someone is able to help.

Regards,

Hi there, Adrian.  I wanted to provide a couple of resources for you to see if we can troubleshoot what's going on.

First, for the most accurate preview of what your project will look like to learners, you'll want to always host it in its intended environment and test it there.  It sounds like you are attempting to do this with your Moodle platform.

This article about troubleshooting LMS issues might give you some further direction in determining where the difficulty is occurring.  *The very last section (7) of this article describes testing your LMS published output with SCORM Cloud; I would definitely recommend seeing what your course looks like hosted there.

Hi, Adrian!  So sorry to hear of the difficulties you are experiencing. Please confirm that you are following the steps here for Publishing for LMS, and may I also ask if you have had the opportunity to test your course in the SCORM Cloud, as that is the recommended environment for LMS testing? Please also see this article for additional details: How to Troubleshoot Your LMS with SCORM Cloud

Sure thing, Adrian -- Glad we were able to help, and please be sure to let us know if you need anything more!

I also wanted to note in case you were unaware, when you reply to a forum notification via email, the details in your signature are displayed publicly here in the post. If you'd like to remove that information, please use the EDIT button beneath your post over here in the thread itself. :)
