Project file

Jun 27, 2016

Is there a way to reopen a file for editing once it has been zipped and saved? I had saved to another location on my computer and over the weekend that 2 of my project files were deleted from my computer. Our IT group was unable to retrieve it as it didn't show up on their server. I am desparately needing to edit rather than start over from where I was at the beginning of last week.

Your IT guys might have tried this but Storyline creates temp versions of projects. You could try and see if you can grab your file (or a least a fairly recent version of it) from your windows app data folder. Open windows explorer and type the following in the address bar:

%appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

You can then try and find the most recent temp version of you project that is available. It mightn't be the most up to date but would hopefully cut down on the amount of work that needs to be redone! This has saved me a few times!

Once you locate a file you can simply rename if from '*.tmp' to '*.story' to open it in Storyline.

Hi, Joanie -- I see that Steve has stopped in here with a suggestion to assist, so hopefully that will do the trick and you will not have to start over from scratch! And if you're not already following the recommendations here to Create, Edit, and Publish Articulate Storyline Courses on Your Local Hard Drive, please check it out and let us know if you need anything further!
