There is an inconvenient bug in Storyline 2. It is when .story files are published, the software freezes.
Although, the reasons of the bug are unknown, the solutions are as follows:
1. Click on Cancel button twice and agree. It would return to the Publish screen. Close Articulate and reopen it and publish.
2. Check for Read, Write & Modify Access to the Articulate folder. Many times, .story files contain data that might need other files in the Storyline installation folder for compilation.

Meanwhile, request Storyline programmers to iron this issue out with an update.

You may want to run through the repair steps listed in #2, please be sure the read the Create, Edit, and Publish Your Storyline Content on Your Local Drive information referenced in step #1.
