Publish then embed
Mar 27, 2013
Hello,
The need recently arose at my organization to publish from Storyline to a file type that I can embed into the Video administration portion of our Cornerstone LMS. The file types that are accepted at this portion of the LMS are .mpg, .mpeg, .wmv, .flv, .m4v, .mp4, or I can publish it to a site such as YouTube and then embed the link. These are organizational videos that I would like to keep private, so I would like to avoid posting to YouTube and then embedding. Is there a way to publish a single file in any of the formats listed above or what is the recommendation for doing something like this?
Thanks,
Josh

Hi Josh,
Unfortunately not. It's a popular feature request, though.
Storyline requires all of the files that are created in the published output to ensure that playback is smooth and all of your built-in functionality and interaction remain intact.
If you DO decide to go the YouTube route, you'd have to record yourself with a screen recording tool simply going through the course, thus losing all interaction on the viewer's behalf.
If your LMS allows iFrames, that would be the best solution.
Thanks for the response Peter! We may have to retain Captivate for this functionality alone, which is a bummer. Hopefully this functionality will be added in the future.

I hear ya, Josh. I hope so, too
