So excited about the new feature as my customer has been asking for this. So I tried a previously developed module and it published a video of the first slide as MP4 file and that was it. I had it marked to publish the whole project. What am I missing? Is there a bug?
We found some issues with the Publish as a Video feature, so we jumped right on it and released a fix for those problems in the latest Storyline 360 update.
Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.13.14869.0 in the bottom-right corner.
Since you're both on the latest update of Storyline 360 and you still can't publish to a Video file, I'd like to get your files in the hands of our Support Engineers so we can sort this out as soon as possible.
Please attach your file here, and let me know your case number. We'll reach out via email as soon as we have tested your file!
Hi there, Angela! These issues have been specific to the file. For example, Dawn's file needed some trigger adjustments so that the course would play through automatically for the video.
Can you share your .story file here for me to have a look?
Hi, I am having problems to publish my storyline project as a video. It finishes to publishing process, but the video is not in the file where it designated file.
Are you using Storyline 360's Publish to Video feature? If so, what happens after the publish is complete? Do you see this 'Publish Successful' window appear?
Nothing happens. The publishing windows where you can can see the progress of the action dissapears, but the congratulations windows doesn´t appears. Of course, the project is not saved on my hard disk. I am using the trial version. We are a small company and wanted to make sure this is the right software for us. So far it has been working very good.
I'm so sorry you've been stuck on this issue, during your trial no less!
We've seen some very slow publish to video when the project has a lot of media to encode as a part of that publishing, and especially if it includes more than 32 audio clips that are causing an error. Does that sound like your course set up?
I can't figure out how to publish a Scene or small set of slides to video, on Step 4. in your tutorial is says to pick Slide, Scene or Entire Project, but when you click the Video button this does not show up, if you click the Preview/Publish route, then Video is not an option and it publishes in a normal player?
Hi Todd! It sounds like you aren't seeing the Video tab in the Publish window. This is what you should see when you choose to Publish in Storyline 360:
First, let's check your version of Storyline. Go to Help > About Storyline. The latest build is 3.20.16814.0. If you aren't on update 20, here's how you can update your 360 apps.
If you're on update 20, can you add a screenshot to your reply? I'd like to see what your Publish window looks like so we can take some next steps. Thanks!
This is what I see, but the Entire Project didn't have a line under it,
there's no way to change it from Entire Project.? I see now that you have
to mouse over it.
Glad you were able to get this figured out, Todd! I also wanted to link to our tutorial on publishing to Video (you'll find all the other Storyline tutorials there). I have these bookmarked and refer to them daily, even after doing this for years! ;-)
Hi, I have published to video before, this is my 2nd project I want to publish to video. I was able to publish to Articulate Review and it runs okay from there, but it is not working when I try to publish to video. it is taking 45 minutes and then frezing on the 'adding audio track' , at this point I cannot cancel publishing and have to use the task bar to shutdown Articulate.
I'd love to help investigate the publish time and freezing. Are you comfortable with sharing your .story file with me here for testing? That way, I can publish the course on my end and let you know what I find!
Also, what Storyline 360 update are you using? You can find this detail by clicking on the Help tab, then About Storyline.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I'm so sorry to hear of this sluggish behavior!
This is an excellent opportunity for our Support team to investigate further, where I shared your source file with them. Look out for an email from one of our engineers shortly, and I'll follow along!

My file was stored on a network drive. After copying to my hard disk it was working fine.
Thanks for the update, Marcel! Glad it's working smoothly again.

Thank you... I actually was able to publish eventually... but it took 1.5 hours!!!
I've been trying to publish a single slide containing a mp4 video clip to video, but it will not go through!
The clip is rather large, but still...
It's been publishing for 18 hours now, but jams when encoding video.
Is there some issue with SL 360 concerning publishing to video??
I shrunk the size of the video clip int the slide and eventually managed to publish to video, but it still took forever!
