Publish to Video Creates Ugly Borders

Jul 19, 2018

As seen here:

The story space is blue to the edges, yet publishing creates this awful border around it. How do I remove it? Am I missing something in publishing settings?

I'm using a chromeless player (not that the player should even be relevant to publishing as a video) and I've even tried resizing the story size to be identical to the output size. Nothing seems to work.

I should not have to crop this video and re-render it in an external video editing program (degrading quality through further unnecessary compression in the process) to get a video without ugly borders.

I'm so sorry you've come across this problem, Buel. We've identified an issue in update 17 where publishing to video produces a white border in the MP4 output file.

I know how frustrating this can be for a course creator, as the goal is to produce high-quality work–both visually and contextually. While I don't have any workarounds to share at this time, you're in the right place and we'll let you know as much as we can, as soon as we can!

Thanks for checking in, Robert!

While I don't have any workarounds to offer, we are hard at work on a fix and are treating it as a priority. The timeline on this correction is a moving target, as we'll be continuously testing to ensure everything looks and works as it should.

As soon as we have that update, we promise to keep you in the loop here!
