Published video-based course won't play
Feb 16, 2017
Hoping somebody can help me figure this one out.
I published a series of very simple, video-based courses, and one of them won't play. Basically I'm just dropping videos into a Storyline 2 slide and using the Storyline project as the container for the video without any additional interactivity.
What's strange is that I used the same project for each video. I simply did a "Save As" and replaced the video.
The non-functioning course previews fine. The video file plays fine by itself. But the published course refuses to work.
I've tried re-publishing the original video file from Camtasia, recreating the Storyline course from scratch, and nothing seems to work.
I'm attaching the .story file. Any helpful input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Brian
I've published your file to LMS using the settings you had and uploaded to Scormcloud.
I have no issue seeing the video play - it plays automatically once the module has loaded. Here is link to Scormcloud so you can test for yourself. I'll keep it there for a few days then I'll delete it off.
Thanks for loading it. I can see that it plays on Scormcloud, but I'm not able to play my published project on a local machine or on our LMS (Saba). I tried a different PC with Storyline 2 installed, and I tried installing the latest update. Still nothing. Frustrating.
Never mind, I figured it out. Stupid mistake. It was the only course title that had an apostrophe in the name, and that was being saved in the folder name, which the LMS didn't like. When I published without the apostrophe, it worked fine.
Hi Brian
locally it could be browser settings.
I can view the published output locally using Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit).
Try adding your published folder to the Adobe Flash Manager settings - see this KB article
I can't speak to Saba settings I've not used that LMS but if you search on SABA on the forum you may find users who have found a workaround or know the settings that may need tweaking.
Good troubleshooting Brian - good luck with your project!
