Publishing & Editing

Dec 16, 2013

Good Morning,

I am trying the 30 day free trial. I love Articulate so far. I published my project to my desktop. I went back into Articulate to edit it and it was no longer in Articulate. Do you know how to solve this?

Thanks,

Liz Parker

Hi Liz,

Welcome to the Articulate community, and sorry to hear you're experiencing some issues with the software.

Under normal circumstances Storyline should behave in the following manner:

  • If you saved your project to your desktop the file should still be there. Double-click it to edit the file in Storyline.
  • If, however, you published your project, but inadvertently forgot to actually save it...then I'm afraid there is no way of recovering it.

Storyline has a built-in safety feature that will display a warning message prompting us to Save, Don't Save, or Cancel the current project file before exiting the program.

If you need any further help don't hesitate to ask it here on the forum.

You can also find a lot of useful information in the tutorial section of this site:

Kind regards,

Hi Liz,

I also wanted to welcome you to the Heroes community, and I'm sorry to hear that you ran into a bit of trouble. If Storyline is not behaving normally as Rutwin described, you'll want to check that you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).

  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.

Also, even though Storyline is new for you, something may have happened during the install so you could conduct a repair of Storyline.
