Publishing My Work

Jan 17, 2013

I've followed the tutorials for publishing my work but I can't get it out.   Does a recipient have to have articulate to open the presentation?  I don't think so but thought I'd ask.

My file is so big it times out before sending.  I tried using dropbox but my recipient was unable to open the presentation.  Any suggestions?  I'm really interested how to send it to ipad.  I've downloaded the app, followed the tutorial but nothing :(

Thank!

Hi Trudy,

A little confused about some of the things you mentioned, maybe we can clarify what's going on here

You mentioned that you're publishing the project and sending it to someone. How are you publishing the content? For web, CD, LMS, etc.?

If you're just trying to distribute the content, and not have someone else edit it, they will not need to have Storyline installed.

You'll need to upload the content to a web server or LMS in order to access it on an iPad through the Articulate Mobile Player. The app is used to access all courses, it won't automatically load content you've created.

If you can give me a little more information, I'll try my best to help you work with this.

Thanks!

Ok...let's try this by email. I'm simply publishing the content for viewing (no editing).

I've been trying the web option.  The window comes up to either email, ftp, etc.  I've tried emailing but the file is apparently too big to send.

I was able to get it to my dropbox.  I've tried opening it from there but get "this project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened.  It may have been created in an earlier version of Storyline."

I did an update which is probably causing this problem along with another I've encountered. The other problem is since the update whenever I open the program it brings up the window for Free Trial, etc.

How do I fix both these issues?

Hope I was a little clearer.

Thanks!

Good morning Trudy,

First, I wanted to address your question about the update converting the program into "Trial" mode. When you launch Storyline, it will ask you to authorize or validate the application. Click on "Yes". Your serial number should be automatically entered, since there was a previously installed version with your serial number.

If you're trying to share your course with others, do you have access to a web server or LMS? This may be the best (and fastest) option for you. If you don't have access to this type of service, you may want to try out Articulate Online. Click here to check it out. There's a free trial, so you can test it for quite some time and see if this is something you'd like to use.

If you're trying to email large files, you can run into a few issues. Mostly, it depends on the outgoing mail servers you're using and how much they can send. Also, if there's any kind of limit on the mail server used by the recipient, you can run into problems, too.

The problem with Dropbox is that it's not really set up to "host" content in the way you're trying to use it. While it can be an option, if you find information about using it as a host, its real purpose is for storage.

I hope I was able to help, at least a little with your questions

Thanks Trudy!
