Publishing Questions

Oct 24, 2013

Hi E-learning Heroes!

I'm a newbie instructional design, Articulate and the community and have just completed work on my first Articulate Storyline product.  My intent is to share it with my director for feedback but after following all the Publishing tutorials, I haven't been able to.  Can you tell me if I'm overlooking something. These are the steps I follow.

1. I publish the training (67 slides) for the Web

2. Once completed I Zip the file and share it via Drop Box

3. The recipient should click on "Story" or "Story.html" to view

4. The training should launch automatically

Steps 1-3 work fine. However, when someone clicks on "Story" or "Story.html" a download screen appears that asks them to save the file.  After its saved to a location on the computer, usually the desktop, they open, click on "Story" or "Story.html" and all that appears is a blank white screen.  Nothing happens.

Do you think Dropbox could be interfering with the module?  I started using Dropbox because the file was too large to send via regular mail.  However, isn't there a site on Articulate.com that will allow me to upload the presentation temporarily for 10 days - or am I thinking about the Articulate Online trial - which I've already exhausted.

I hope this post isn't too vague.  Can someone please advise me?

Thanks so much!

Also, would it be possible for me to share my first module with the community.  I NEED the feedback - I'm pretty much working solo and would love expert advice. Thanks again!

Hi Cynthia and welcome to Heroes!

Congratulations on completing your first project! It sounds like you're following all the steps correctly in terms of publishing, although viewing published content on your local drive may cause you to encounter some security restrictions and the content may not work.

You are correct though, that there is a great site to allow you to test your content called Tempshare.  It'll generate a unique URL and will stay active for 10 days - which I think is a great way to test content, especially if you're deploying for web.

You're welcome and encouraged to share your first module here and the community can weigh in and offer any feedback, feel free to send the same Tempshare link here.
