Publishing quizzes for Pass/Fail in Absorb

Jul 31, 2019

Hi everyone,

We use Absorb LMS, we would like to publish quizzes from storyline that mark pass fail. We have the quiz submit results from the results slide, and the publish settings we have tried are pass/fail, complete/incomplete, and complete/fail. In the LMS for the course we allow failure. However, after taking the quiz, it marks it complete, letting users move on when they fail.

I have already reached out to Absorb, and here was their response:

"As for Absorb, so long as a Failure and Not Complete status are received from the content then Absorb can mark it as being Failed, and it will count towards the user's maximum. A Complete status is all that is needed for Absorb to mark the content as finished, regardless of the score. Any Completion based on scoring must be set up within the content itself."

What do we need to do in Storyline360 to get the quiz to pass/fail rather than complete?

Thank you!

Yes, sorry, I have tried all 4 of the publish statuses.

I have a 3 attempt setting on the quiz I am testing. If I don't have the publish setting as complete/fail, or complete/incomplete, the attempts don't count against the 3 attempt limit. I am attaching a screenshot of the interactions on the result slide in case that might help anybody. I appreciate the help.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for sharing the troubleshooting that you've already gone through.

Some LMS systems will report on both Success and Completion, but using Completed/Incomplete or Completed/Failed are the recommendation to not do so.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
