Publishing Storyline to Wix.com (attention: DavidAnderson)

Feb 11, 2021

I'm trying to publish my Storyline project to my website on Wix.com.  I've found some discussions from years ago where people only found "work-arounds" at best. Please, can anyone help me to accomplish this?

Also, after David recommending in many workshops that we reach him a few different ways... can anyone confirm if I'm proceeding successfully by placing his tag in the title?

Thanks!
- Steve (a determined newbie)

To put your course on Wix, you'd need access to a folder on the server to upload the published course folder. From what I recall, Wix doesn't offer that type of access.

This means you'd need to publish and upload the course somewhere else like Amazon S3 and then add either a link to the course or insert it using an iframe.

Thanks Tom! So essentially, it sounds like my Parallels software, Articulate membership, and Wix fees still don't quite get me there yet?  That's really unfortunate!

If I find out a solution via Wix or the web I'll let you guys know. What is the effective way to tag you in e-learning heroes if I find something?

Hey Steve - One thing I'd recommend is publish your portfolio projects to Review 360. You can disable comments so the projects fill the browser. This enables you to showcase your work while you work on other hosting options.

And don't forget you can showcase your work on your E-Learning Heroes profile page. Click the Add Course button, upload a screenshot, and link to your project in Review 360.

Here's an example of the course profile on ELH: Jodi Sansone - Profiles - E-Learning Heroes (articulate.com)

Thanks everybody!

When publishing a storyline project to Review 360, is it:

(1) Available to all general public?

(2) Available to all public with Articulate access?

(3) Available to only those who a link is shared with?

(4) Available to those who have Articulate access and still need a link to be shared?

Also, can it be hyper-linked to from my webpage?

I was looking at other web-hosting options and so far it's either Amazon S3 (which I need to learn more about but also was not impressed with my seller experience with Amazon), or Wix may have an app for an additional fee called "Velo". If I could figure this part out, Articulate would quickly become my new favorite program.

Hey Steve -

1) Yes, you can control who has access to your projects. By default, no one can find your project unless you share the link. You can also add a password to the project for additional protection. Here's where you can learn more about sharing: Manage Projects in Review 360 - E-Learning Heroes (articulate.com)

2) Be default, yes ONLY if people have the link. But the link is randomized and not one anyone could guess or stumble upon your project by accident.

3) It's a public link but not indexed or searchable. That's where adding a password could also provide extra security.

4) Definitely. From your wix page, you could link an image or text box to open your project in Review 360 in a new window.

Thanks Ashley, I tried posting something a while back, but for all I know that post was "lost in the cloud" somewhere! Just glad to connect - I'm so glad to see so many responses right now!

Sometimes they come through quickly and posts slip through. When that happens, you're totally welcome to re-post or add a comment to your original post to nudge the post back to the top. It's our intention to answer everything we can. Nothing wrong with nudging unanswered posts to gain attention:-)

You could just open an account with a service like GoDaddy and host your own site. You can get inexpensive ready to use templates and then just publish your course and upload to the directory via FTP.  Then your course is hosted and you can display anyway you want.

Wix and the other comparable services are great because you don't have to program a site, but the constraint is you don't get access to a directory to add additional content like published courses.
