Publishing to be viewed on iPad app

Feb 25, 2014

Hi,

I'm trying to publish an articulate storyline project within our moodle 2.3 installation so that when a user clicks on the link it opens in the articulate mobile app.  I know that you have can do this using dropbox public links but I cannot get it to work.  I've tried just adding the public link to the story.html file but that didn't work.  Do I need to upload the entire zip file?  I'm guessing I need publish for web?

Any help would be gratefully received?

Thanks

You would need to use the LMS publishing option, see here for info:http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/publishing-a-project-for-lms.aspx. However, unless your Moodle install supports TinCan (I'm not sure if v2.3. does) you won't be able to access the content with the Player App. See here for a similar thread: http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/18874.aspx

Thanks for this although I'm still struggling.

I know that TIN CAN doesn't work on my LMS.  However, I don't need to track.  So I'm thinking I can publish for web and somehow get this to work by using URL and file upload options rather than SCORM.  Maybe if I understood how to publish for the web properly.  When I visit the articulate showcase, these examples open in my app.  How can I get this to happen if, for example, I'm using weebly?

If no tracking is required, then you could publish to web, upload to Moodle as a non-SCORM resource and you MAY be able to view the content in the Player App. I say 'MAY' because the Player app also doesn't support logins, which you may need in order to access the content. See here for info: http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-distribute-articulate-storyline-content-for-flash-html5-and-articulate-mobile-player.

Thanks for this advice.

I'm sorry but I'm really struggling.  Before I can attempt it on moodle, I need to understand exactly how to do it on the web.  I can add the zip file for people to download but that's no good for iPad users.  So it seems I need to have a website facility which allows me to upload the zip file to a web server and then create a link to the story.html file.  The problem is I don't have such a website facility.  The only service I have available to me is weebly which doesn't seem to allow the uploading of files to a backend server.  Is there an option to use dropbox?  I've been trying to use the dropbox public folder but don't know how to allow an iPad user to find and click on the right file to view on the app.

Any help much appreciated.
