Publishing to HTML 5

Nov 13, 2018

Does anyone still have learner's seeing distorted text on the module when viewing in IE11? I was told by IT, once we started publishing to HTML5 we wouldn't have that issue anymore.

We (elearning developers), have now used a disclaimer on the modules to note that if you see missing letters or distorted text to re-launch the course in google chrome.

The course plays fine in Chrome than in IE11. The problem with that is, most learners have IE11 set up as their default browser. When they have to close the course and relaunch, they will still hold their place in the course, but I personally feel like that's just too many clicks. The only way around not having distorted text is to import a Picture PowerPoint presentation into Storyline.  The image quality is removed and it looks fuzzy. That's why we have the disclaimer.

As a developer, I always check in IE and Chrome to make sure the course is working. I have all of the proper updates for both browsers. That update was recently deployed across all workstations (as I was told).

Hi there, Faye!  It sounds like you might be seeing this issue with incorrect fonts or missing letters in IE.

We are investigating whether we can make some changes on the authoring side so that your learners don't have to manipulate browser settings if they're impacted.  I'll add your discussion to our report so I can keep you in the loop!
