publishing to Word - base layer displayed

Apr 15, 2014

Hi there,

I've created a tabs interaction slide and have closed the eye of the picture and text box I do not want displayed when I click on the various layers.  The story displays correctly when I publish it to Web however when I publish to Word the base layer picture and text box displays on every slide layer.  How can I remove this content in the published Word document?

Thanks,

Kirsten

Hi Kirsten,

One option comes to mind that might work for you. By hiding the objects on your base layer, they should not show up when you publish to Word.

You can do this by opening up the slide properties of the layer by clicking on the small cogwheel icon and selecting the "Hide objects on base layer" option.

It should look something like this:

If you try this and still need help, just let us know.

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Thanks for your reply.  I've just checked out the layers in my project and all layers have "Hide all other slide layers" checked :(

What I have done as an interm fix is opened the eye on each layer and then inserted shapes to cover the base layer picture and text box and brought the slide layer text box to the front.  I've published that to Word and it works but I must be missing something.  I usually use your tabs interaction template but this time I  created my own and I'm not sure what I've done wrong.  As I say, it works fine when I publish to web but not to Word (and it's important that I am able to produce a clean Word document for stakeholder review).  I'd appreciate any other thoughts or suggestions to fix this problem.

Thanks,

Kirsten

Hi Kirsten,

I'm happy to hear that you were able to find a workaround for this. However, if you'd like, I'd be happy to take a look at the project file and see what might be causing the base layer to show, even when it's set to not do so.

In your response you can attach your .STORY file by using the small paperclip icon. If the file is too large to attach, you may see an error. If this is the case, it may help to import only a few of the slides into a new project, then share the smaller file.

Let me know if you have any trouble with this, or any questions.

Thanks!

Christine
