Quality Standards for Formatting Slides?

Dec 31, 2020

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there are quality standards for formatting Text, Fonts, etc. with Articulate like in Advertising?

I tried searching the training vids and didn't come across anything.  Perhaps this is something  I need to research out of Articulate?

I'm trying to avoid designing slides that are mediocre or 'cookie-cutterish'.

Also,  I am looking for a video that thoroughly explains how to set your formatting.  As far as I know at this point, there is a 'slide master'  where everything can be set to be consistent throughout the project.

Please advise and Happy New Year everyone!  Hopefully 2021 will be a better year.

Thanks

Hi, Jay,

Some companies have branding standards to follow. And, of course, you want to ensure that your content is accessible (https://community.articulate.com/articles/accessible-elearning-storyline360).  Otherwise, the design is up to you. You're limited only by your imagination. Well, that plus your time and your budget.

You could get design ideas from looking at the eLearning Challenge entries (https://community.articulate.com/hubs/e-learning-challenges). Or from anywhere. There's lots of design advice on the web.

Yes, you can use the Slide Master (used for slide bases) and the Feedback Master (used for layers) to help maintain a consistent look throughout a project. The default layouts provide a basic (aka "cookie cutter") design. But the font, colors, and other formatting can all be changed as designed.

FYI: Here's my post about customizing the Feedback Master:

 Happy new year!

Hi again, Jay,

I'm not aware of any common standards for designing a Portfolio. If the purpose is to impress a potential employer, then it should demonstrate your skills in instructional design, graphic design, and/or programming (depending on what type of job you're looking for).

Perhaps some other Forum users will add their thoughts about this topic...
