Quality video editing in SL

Dec 16, 2013

Hi all,

I need to create a course embedding several mp4 files. It is the first time I use video functionality in SL so I read first following tutorial http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/editing-videos.aspx. But I have a doubt... in the tutorial after the paragraph "Adjusting the volume, brightness and contrast of a video" the screenshots of Articulate Video Editor (of SL) became screenshots of Articulate Video Encoder. Does it mean that the quality of a video can only be adjusted through Video Encoder? I did not find the button Quality in SL Video Editor... Did I miss something?

Second question. As I tried to open it with Video Encoder I receive following error.

I already installed K-Lite Codec Pack and Gspot told me that the codec of my mp4 file is following:

How can I solve the issue of editing the file in Video Encoder?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Silvia,

When you choose to edit a video in Storyline it will automatically open the Video Encoder window, so the tutorial is showing the right images. I don't believe there is a "Quality" button, but you can adjust the volume, brightness and contrast as indicated. If you're looking to adjust the overall quality, you may be thinking about the options available to you in the publish set up below:

In regards to the error you're receiving about opening it with the Video Encoder,  the first thought would be to conduct a repair of the Studio software to see if that resolves the importing error, and the supporting Microsoft windows software.

In addition to the K-lite codec pack, you may want to look at the Media player option below:

K-Lite Codec Pack Full (accept all default installation options):

Media Player Codec Pack (deselect toolbar options during installation):
