I imported a kitchen background and needed a dishwasher. So, I created one for the kitchen with shapes inside Storyline. Should I have created it in PowerPoint and then uploaded it? Because, now I am thinking I have too many item "layers" on my timeline. This dishwasher will not be animated. I just needed an illustrated image.
Hi there, Vickie! It's a great point to consider. You can group all of those objects that make the dishwasher if you don't really need to do too much with it. State changes with grouped objects can be tricky, but if it just needs to be a "background" piece, I'd say group them, lock them on the timeline, and move on! 😊
Personally I like to separate media production. Thus I'd create the illustration in PowerPoint (or different app) and save as a .png. Then import it to Storyline.
There are advantages to creating images using storyline shapes you can quickly change colours inside of Storyline, especially if you use the theme colours. I often use illustrator or Photoshop to generate imagery, however wherever possible I will use Storyline to generate my assets.

Our rapid e-learning guru, Tom, wrote this nifty article about using PowerPoint to create illustrations. Hope that helps, too!
