Question about Record Screen and Master Slides and Slide Advance Setting

Jul 13, 2020

I normally start by importing a PowerPoint presentation, and then I use the Slides > Record Screen button to record screens.

How does Articulate Storyline decide which slide to use for the master slide for the screens that I record?

How does Articulate Storyline decide which Slide Advance setting to use.  I want all the slides to advance "By User," but the default setting seems to be "Automatic."  Can I change that?

My PowerPoint presentation is set to "By User" because I use Articulate Presenter settings to set it to go "By User."  However, when I record screens, Articulate forces me back into the "Automatic" mode.  Is there anything I can do about it?

Hi Aletha!

Storyline uses the blank slide for all screen recordings. You can see which layout a slide uses by clicking Apply Layout in the Home tab.

Here's what that looks like:

Next, it's easy to select all the slides to change the Slide Advances settings.

Here are the steps:

  1. In Story View, select all the slides by clicking the first slide, hold SHIFT on your keyboard, and then click the last slide in the scene.
  2. In Slide Properties, which is located on the bottom right-hand corner, select the drop-down next to Slide Advances and choose By User.

Here's a quick look!
