Question about Using Triggers to Change Object States in the Up and Running Tutorial

Aug 09, 2021

I got to this part of the tutorials and am stuck because there are states missing for the Click slide practice. Document States A, B and C are missing. But they are in the Mouse slide. Is there a way to copy states from Mouse to Click? Probably not. Can't add states as triggers if they don't exist. Tutorial didn't cover adding the states Document A, B and C. I attached a screenshot to show what's missing.

So I wanted to add my own pictures as states for the missing A, B and C. However, the image button is grayed out. Says I need to have an image to add an image which is contradictory.

2. Click the Insert Pictures as States button. (This button is only active when you’re working with an image.) https://community.articulate.com/articles/articulate-storyline-360-user-guide-how-to-add-and-edit-states

Yes. Copy the item in Mouse, and paste it on Click. It will bring its states with it.

A, B, and C are states of the image on the clipboard (at least in the Mouse slide). So on the click slide select the blank image (as it is in your screen shot), and click EDIT STATES. Add a state, name it A, and insert the picture you want, etc.

Thanks Walt! The copy/paste worked great. EDITED: I have been trying to use the wrong button. The grayed out button is in the states section. The one I am supposed to be using is in the ribbon at the top of the screen. Why is there an image button in states if you can't use it to change the image? That would be funny if it weren't so confusing for a Newb. It will be nice when this is all 2nd-nature stuff for me after 100s of more hours in experience instead of the measly 5 so far. Thank you for your help above! (I marked it as helpful, too.)
