Question Banks importing from one project/story to another

Jan 14, 2013

Hi,

I've got question banks in some other Projects and want to pull a whole

bank or two into a new project/story that I'm developing.  How do I import a question

bank from another project?  Is there an export feature somewhere?
The Import doesn't let me browse over to another project.

Thanks!

Hi Ted,

First, you might want to change the settings in your profile if you want to receive notifications at a different email address. You can do this by clicking on your avatar in the top right-hand side of this page where it says "Welcome, Ted". Once you're on your profile page, click on "Edit Profile". On the right, you'll be able to change your email address.

Question banks are file-specific, meaning they only pertain to the story in which they're located.  However, like any other slides in your story, question bank slides can be imported into a different story if you want to reuse them.

1) Create a new Storyline file

2) Click the Articulate button > Import > Storyline

3) Select the .story file that has the Question Bank

4) From the Insert Slides window, don't select the ordinary slides anymore. Look for the questions under the Question Bank section and select all the questions.

5) At the bottom left corner of that window, "Insert into scene" should be "Same as imported project".

6) Click the Import button

You might not see any change in your Scene or Slide but if you check your Question Banks from the menu above, you will notice that the Question Bank from the other story file is added.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you're still unable to import the question banks from your project.

Thanks!

Great on both counts.  Changed my email and better yet imported the question bank.
One problem when importing the question bank it seems to have lost the connection with
the "Correct" Layout and "Incorrect" Layouts.  I was able to reconnect them but had to

go through each question manually and reconnect the Layouts to the correct and incorrect

options.  Did I make some mistake or is there a way to bring the Correct and Incorrect layouts

over too?

Thanks... This is soooo significant having someone help when I get stuck. My skills are
developing thanks to this Forum.  Best I've ever experienced and I've been doing it for
a very long time. You guys are the best!

Good morning Ted!

Great, I'm happy to hear you were able to get your email address changed!

It sounds like, and I may be wrong, the layers you mentioned may not have been imported from the original slides. That, or maybe a link between them was missing or broken. Without actually seeing the file itself, it's hard to say.

If you'd like to share the original .story file that you imported from, I can try to add it to a new project and see if I experience the same thing.

Hope you have a great day!
