Question Banks: Multiple Choice Questions

Aug 08, 2013

I have created a question bank with 66 multiple choice questions form which 50 are selected for the exam.  So far, so good.

I thought the answers would act as true Radio Buttons (ex.: select "A", change your mind and select "B" and "A" is turned off).  In other words, only one answer is allowed.  However, I noticed in testing, that these questions allow selection of more than one answer.  In that case, at least one of the answers is always wrong and so the question is scored as wrong.  Is there a way to make these true radio buttons?

Hi Steve and welcome to Heroes!

It doesn't sound like normal multiple choice behavior - did you double check that you didn't set it as a multiple response instead of a multiple choice? Multiple response will allow you to choose more than one answer (in case there are multiple correct answers). If you've confirmed the question type is multiple choice, please go ahead and submit a Support case so that our team can take a look.

Hi Steve, one thing you could do to make those existing multiple response questions behave like multiple choice questions is to make the check boxes part of a Button Set. They would still be check boxes and not radio buttons but only one of them could be selected at a time and selecting another answer would de-select any previous selection.

You can see an example here.

If that's an option for you, you can right-click each check box and add them to the same button set.
